Prepare for Your Appointment

Everything you need to know before your Crown & Reign experience.

A little preparation helps us make the most of our time together. Select your appointment type below to learn how to prepare for your visit.

How should I prepare for my consultation?

1

Before your consultation:

  • Have your hair accessible so we can evaluate its texture, density, scalp, and overall condition.

  • Be prepared to discuss your hair history, current care routine, products, goals, and concerns.

  • Feel free to bring inspiration photos if you're considering a particular loc size or look.

  • Transfer clients: Please know the date of your last retightening, if possible, and be prepared to discuss your current maintenance schedule and any concerns such as slippage, thinning, marrying, or repairs.

  • Virtual consultations: Choose a well-lit location and be prepared to show your hairline, crown, sides, back, scalp, and new growth on camera.

And bring your questions! Your consultation is a time for us to determine whether Crown & Reign is the right fit for your loc journey.

How should I prepare for a new loc installation?

2

Whether you're beginning your journey with Sisterlocks® or microlocs, proper preparation helps us create the best possible foundation for your new locs.

On the day of your installation:

  • Arrive with your hair freshly shampooed and completely clean.

  • Your hair should be free of oils, conditioners, moisturizers, creams, gels, and styling products.

  • Leave your hair in its natural texture. Please do not blow-dry, flat-iron, press, or otherwise straighten your hair before your appointment.

  • Wear comfortable clothing and plan accordingly for an extended appointment.

Loc installations are detailed, precision work. The time required varies depending on factors such as hair length, density, texture, and loc size.

Your installation may require a lengthy appointment and, in some cases, may be scheduled over two or more days. Your estimated installation time and scheduling plan will be discussed during your consultation.

How should I prepare for my retightening?

3

Before your appointment:

  • Arrive with your hair clean and completely dry.

  • Avoid heavy oils, gels, butters, edge control, and other styling products.

  • Remove braids, curls, updos, or other styles so your locs and new growth are easily accessible.

  • Let us know about any slippage, marrying, thinning, breakage, or other concerns before your retightening begins.

  • Whenever possible, stay within your recommended maintenance schedule.

Appointments involving extended new growth, repairs, excessive marrying, or other maintenance needs may require additional time and incur additional charges. Any concerns will be discussed with you.
